Also towards the beginning of our week-long stay, we stopped in Montalcino and Montepulciano: both beautiful, yet different. Montalcino sits at the top of a mountain and is very quaint. Similarly, Montepulciano is also at the top of a mountain, but the streets of the town wind themselves up to the peak, where the views are breathtaking. Montepulciano was definitely busier than Montalcino: it was bigger, with more restaurant and shopping options, but the time of day we visited may have been a factor. Aside from stopping for lunch in Montepulciano, we basically just wandered through the streets of both towns.
Side note: the natural light in Montepulciano was on point for pics.
