Hit it, J-Kwon
We weren’t in the club getting our boozy brunch on, but we were throwing back some vodka and margaritas at The Tipsy Scoop! This East Side “barlour” sells liquor-infused ice cream! How sweet is this concept? It’s the first of its kind in the Big Apple. Naturally, we had to give it a try, especially considering these scoops are up to 5% ABV (like a cider or a light beer.) I can dig it!
Ben got the Mango Margarita Sorbet which was AMAZING. The alcohol was really potent, more potent than it was in the rich ice cream I got. It essentially tasted like a frozen mango margarita in a scoop. I sampled the Raspberry Limoncello and that was also really tasty. These sorbets are perfect for summer because they’re sweet and refreshing. HINT: They’d also be fantastic floating around in your wine!
I ended up getting two scoops: the Cake Batter Vodka Martini and the Red Velvet Martini. I didn’t taste much alcohol in them, even with the 5%, but they were pretty freakin’ delicious. The Cake Batter Vodka Martini tasted like vanilla with traces of cake batter, so it wasn’t as ‘in your face’ as say, Coldstone. I was really happy about that because I was a little worried it would taste too sweet and I’d get sick of it. The Red Velvet Martini was also really good. Like the cake batter, it didn’t taste overwhelmingly like a red velvet cake. It tasted like a richer vanilla and was both smooth and creamy. I was definitely a fan!
So now the important question you’re all asking: Did I actually feel tipsy after eating the ice cream? Not really, but with that high of an ABV, one would definitely get drunk if they consumed enough of it. And you will be ID’d when ordering, just saying!
The Tipsy Scoop has a ton of different flavors, so whether you’re a vodka fan, a whiskey enthusiast, or a bourbon drinker, there’s something there for you. I’d love to go back and try the Chocolate Stout and Pretzel! If you have a sweet tooth and you’re ready to get a buzz on, you should definitely get The Tipsy Scoop on your radar. And if you’re planning on making your way to their Kips Bay location, make sure you go on the early side to avoid any lines (and to make sure you can actually get some ice cream! They apparently sell out at times!) It opens at noon. Happy drinkin’! 😉
And lastly, for your viewing pleasure (because I can’t get it out of my head, so you all must suffer with me):
